Initial College Consultation: $300
This appointment runs between 90 minutes and 2 hours and is strongly recommended for 9th-11th graders and their parent(s). During this first meeting, the student will be provided with a College Counseling Guidebook that includes a to-do list for students in grades 9-12 and specific information related to extracurricular activities, standardized tests, college visits, financial aid, and scholarships. Our consultant will walk you through the college admissions process, explaining how and why the choices you make in high school may impact your college opportunities, as well as provide an assessment of your student's materials and college aspirations. Parent and student questions will be answered.
General College Counseling: $150/hr.
These appointments are recommended for those needing to discuss specific college admissions processes and application details. Typical topics of discussion include a combination of the following:
Individual SAT & ACT Test Prep: $300/90 minute session
Test prep appointments are scheduled at a mutually convenient time for the student and tutor of choice. There are no minimum number of appointments required, though our recommendation is to start with 2 sessions of English and 2 sessions of math. Small group SAT prep classes are offered at a set rate leading up to specific SAT exam dates throughout the year. Visit our Programs & Seminars page for details about group prep.
NOTE: Test prep is available for a variety of standardized tests including the SSAT, PSAT, and a variety of AP exams. The times and fees for these sessions are set by each individual tutor. Please visit our About Us page to find the tutor who best meets your standardized testing needs.
Small Group SAT Prep: $1250/student
Each 4+ hour session will include test taking strategies, sample exam questions, practice tests, and answer review. This service provides a total of 16 hours of SAT Prep - 8 hours of English prep & 8 hours of math prep. Our prep emphasizes the strategies needed to decipher the correct answers. We do not focus on improving students' reading comprehension or vocabulary skills or reteach students algebra 1 and 2. Every student receives an SAT prep book, which includes multiple practice tests, to keep. Small Group SAT Prep is most often offered in February and August.
Remote Common Application Reviews: $100
Our College Counselor is able to proofread and provide feedback on students' Common Apps remotely.
Essay Writing Package: $300/student
Students attend a 2 hour workshop on the do's and don'ts of writing a standout college application essay. During this workshop, we identify the purpose of the essay, examine the characteristics of great and not-so-great essays, review the Common App prompts, discuss the perfect opening sentence, and brainstorm individual essay topics. We also cover how to address the Additional Information Essay and individual schools' supplemental essays.
College Admissions Boot Camp: $800
This program is offered repeatedly throughout August and on weekends throughout September. Limited to just four participants, students meet with our counselor for two consecutive days between 10AM-3PM to prepare all materials required for successful college submissions. This includes finalizing their college lists, filling out the Common App (and other applications if time allows), working on Common App essays and additional essay supplements (required by many schools), and creating an academic resume, if necessary (only needed by students whose extracurricular activities exceed 10). By the end of our two days together students typically have 75-90% of their applications completed. This is an especially helpful program for students who like to procrastinate or who know that their senior year will come with academic and extracurricular demands that may not provide them the necessary time to dedicate to fall application work.
