¡Hola! My name is Lauren Long and I am a private Spanish tutor. My teaching experience began after graduating from Lafayette College with a degree in Spanish Language and Government & Law and after earning a Masters of Arts in Counseling with a focus on Adolescence from University of St. Joseph (West Hartford). I taught at Taft summer school and then earned my first full time teaching position at Rumsey Hall School (Spanish teacher, dorm parent, coach, advisor, and middle school therapist).
After I had my two daughters, Lexi (age 27) and Cami (age 24), I got hooked on Montessori education and taught at Litchfield Montessori School (Spanish Specialist). In 2010, I began working at Washington Montessori School (Middle School Spanish teacher, Language Head, advisor). After 13 wonderful years of working at WMS, I made the difficult decision to step away from my classroom and transition to private tutoring (Spanish ages 10 and up, public, private , homeschool, adults). I am really enjoying working one on one with students who are facing various challenges or who are seeking enrichment and fun exploration through my various reading comprehension series. I am described as being patient, creative, organized, empathetic, and funny.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, hot power yoga, hiking, traveling, and hanging out with my husband John, our silly Bassett hound Winnie, and our 3 insane cats (Tuukka, Oliver, and Georges-Pierre).
